Nancy Olga Petak

Nancy Olga Petak of Billings was called home to the Lord on November 17, 2016.

She was born on November 26, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York. There she met the love of her life, John Petak, who was stationed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. They were married on August 20, 1955, and were inseparable until his death in 2010. Nancy always enjoyed working with people and loved helping others. Early in their marriage, Nancy worked as a secretary. She then took a long break to be at home and raise her family. Nancy and John moved to Montana in 1982 and lived in Hamilton. In the 1990's, Nancy went back to work as an activities coordinator for the elderly residents at Valley View Estates. She often said she would retire from Valley View the day someone asked her where her room was. Fortunately, no one asked, but Nancy did eventually retire to take care of John when she was 68. In 2003, Nancy and John moved to Billings to be closer to family. Nancy's greatest achievements were being a wife, mom, and friend. However, her greatest joy was being a grandmother and watching her grandchildren grow and prosper.

She is survived by her two sons, John Petak III (Barbara) and Fred (Cyndi); her grandchildren, Austin and Dannicah; her sister Betty Deegan; her special nephew Kevin Deegan; her lifelong friend Robert Gore; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her daughter Lisa, her brother Harry, and her sister Olga.

Nancy was involved with church throughout her life and loved to talk about her faith. Romans 14:8 tells us, "If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord." She will be greatly missed and always loved.

Visitation begins on Tuesday November 22, from 5 to 8 PM at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Avenue, Billings. A service will be held at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4125 Grand Avenue, Billings, at 10 AM on Wednesday, November 23. Memorial donations can be sent to King of Glory Lutheran Church.
