Nancy Lou (V'Dovec) Wier, 73, of Billings, died of natural causes Sunday at St. Vincent's Hospital.

Nancy was born September 4, 1936 at the Columbus Hospital in Great Falls to parents Paul V'Dovec and Margaret Murphy. She spent her early years in the Monarch-Neihart area before moving to Roundup where she graduated from Roundup High School and married Robert Wier in 1958. The next few years they were busy starting a family and followed Robert's work from Chouteau to Havre, finally settling in Billings in 1968.

Forever youthful in spirit, Nancy found her greatest pleasures in children and devoted her life to brightening the days of all the kids around her. Not only did she love and care for her children and grandchildren, Nancy opened her arms and her home to all youngsters, operating a daycare at her house for many years. For over two decades Nancy also raised a foster child, whom she was still caring for at the time of her passing.

Nancy was loved by neighbors, friends, family and children alike, and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children, Robert Wier, Jr. of Tucson, Arizona, Tami (Allen) Wier of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, Vickie Anderson of Billings, Michael (Stephanie) Wier of Great Falls, and Teri (Randy) Clement of Ogden, Utah. She is also survived by her foster daughter, Carmen Tall Whiteman, and seven grandchildren: Benny, Matthew, Lydia, Andrew, Sara, Jacob, and Taylor. All were the loves of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and brothers, Leonard V'Dovec and James Murphy.

Vigil service and rosary will be Thursday, June 3, at 7:00 P.M., at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10:00 A.M., at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church. Cremation will follow.

I was so sorry to hear of Nancy's death. Nancy was a very dear lady. I am in awe of Nancy's dedication to Carmen and I loved going to visit Nancy as a STEP Family Support Specialist. When my daughter Sarah was younger, we would always go to Nancy's trick-or-treating and it was a highlight of Halloween. She was a wonderful woman and I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers go to you, the family.

For the past two short years, Nancy has been my partner in crime at dialysis 3 times a week. With her sitting beside me, we visited and laughed, and the time spent doing our treatments seemed to fly by. I will truly miss her infectious smile, terrific sense of humor, unending love for those around her, and steadfast determination to enjoy every day as it comes. I know she is dancing in heaven, enjoying her time now, with no pain. She was a wonderful lady, and a dear and loving friend. I am truly blessed to have called her my friend.
