Patricia Ann “Trish” Matteson, 74, of Billings, passed away on Nov. 22, 2023. She was born on July 30, 1949, the daughter of John R. Lair and Karen Bengtson, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. She had two children: son Benjamin (Becky) and daughter Jennifer (Mark); and two siblings, Marcia (Dave) Heningman of Bridger and Steve (Diane) Lair of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was married to Clyde Timothy “Tim” Matteson.

Trish and Tim met in college and had a beautiful 51 years of life and love in their marriage together. Trish brightened this world for 74 years and left it a much better place to live in. She loved time with her family and was a great cook and amazing baker. She was a wonderful woman and gave her family a loving and solid foundation to live by. She was a courageous and a strong person who fought a long illness and never wavered in her love of family and faith. Throughout her life, she had a shining spirit and a smile and gratitude to share for those around her.

Trish and Tim lived in Glendive for 30 years. Trish devoted her life to teaching, and taught grade school and was an education professor at Dawson Community College. One of her personal joys was to see her students become teachers themselves. She was involved in Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO) Chapters in Glendive (Chapter A) and active member of Chapter E in Billings. She volunteered her services and time as a Docent at the Yellowstone Art Museum (YAM) and also served on the YAM Board of Directors. She had a love for art and she shared her passion with local students through YAM Suitcase program, which was so rewarding to her.

She will be missed by many, but most of all by her family who loved her dearly: her son, Ben (Becky) and their children, Michael, Kevin and Sami; her daughter, Jennifer (Mark) and their son Luke. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her great loves, and they will miss Trish’s love and steadfast guidance.

Donations can be made in her memory to the Dawson Community College Foundation or the Yellowstone Art Museum Foundation.
