Patrick Thain Hagan

Patrick Thain Hagan, 64 of Billings, passed away on February 7, 2018 at St. Vincent Healthcare following 8 month battle with cancer. Patrick was born on August 20, 1953 in Billings, to D.Y. and Elizabeth (Thain) Hagan. Patrick was raised in Billings and graduated from Billings Senior High in 1972. He joined the Billings Deputy Sheriff's Scouting Program while still in high school. Following graduation he became a Dispatcher for the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Department and 3 years later, at the age of 21, was deputized as a Yellowstone County Sheriff's Deputy. He worked for the Sheriff's Department for 25 years before retiring in 2001. Patrick loved anything having to do with cars! He was a member of the Corvette Club, often attended car races locally and afar, and followed NASCAR. Being a Deputy, he prided himself on his great driving skills and record. He had a vast knowledge of guns and excelled at target shooting and was a proficient sharp shooter. He was an avid fan of the Billings Mustangs, holding season tickets for over 20 years. Patrick was a man of many hats, literally! He would change his ball cap to represent whatever event he was attending, whether it was a sporting event or walking into his bank, he'd wear the hat that was most important at in that moment. He made people around him feel special. His only daughter Lynsey was born in 1991. He was always her #1 fan, attending Lynsey's sporting events and cheering her on, no matter what she did. He was very proud of her! Once Patrick was diagnosed with cancer, Lynsey moved home from Missoula to provide his the care and love he needed until the end. Survivors include his daughter Lynsey Hagan of Billings; his brother Tom Hagan (Kathleen Rylander) of FL and his children Ty Hagan of Missoula and Tiffany Shermak of Minneapolis; as well as great-nieces Kailee and Annika and great-nephew Aiden Shermak; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 15, 2018 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (13th and Crawford).
