Patrick Grant Scott of Billings, MT, age 81, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at his oldest son’s home in Bozeman, MT.
Pat was born on March 22, 1943, in Miles City, Montana, the second son of John and Helen (Brown) Scott. He grew up with his brothers on what was known as the island between the original paths of the Tongue and Yellowstone Rivers. These rivers and the hills surrounding Miles City would be a part of his life for many years because of Pat’s fondness for the outdoors - whether hiking, fishing, hunting, or asparagus picking.
Pat graduated from Custer County High School in 1961 and shortly thereafter reported to the US Naval Training Center in San Diego for his service in the United States Navy. He would subsequently be stationed on Treasure Island, San Francisco, CA, for ET School, and then for Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA.
Upon his return to Montana in 1965, Pat eventually got a job working at a Super America service station in Glendive, MT, where he met his wife, Judy Arnett. They were married on December 9, 1967, in Bowman, ND. Pat and Judy lived in Bozeman, MT; Bowman, ND; and Glendive, before settling down in Miles City in 1972, where they lived until 1989 when they moved to Billings, MT.
“Service” is a word that Pat wholeheartedly believed in - he worked at a service station as a young husband after serving our country in the Navy. He then kept serving throughout his life - working at Job Service helping others find work; working at Recreation Lanes in Miles City at the service desk and ending his working career as an Electronics Technician with BLM. He also volunteered as the Secretary/Manager of the Custer County Fair Board for many years. He loved installing radios in the BLM trucks and maintaining the towers and repeaters across the state. Pat retired in 2009 and enjoyed reading and rereading western and spy novels, tracking genealogical family records, and maybe a little more travel in his post-retirement years. Pat’s love for people was so evident as he served behind the scenes at LifeWay Church of Billings, as well.
Most importantly, on February 21, 2024, Pat gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ, recognizing his need for a savior - and giving him the number one Person to serve.
Jude 24-25 (NLT): 24 Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault. 25 All glory to Him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are His before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.
Pat is survived by his wife of 57 years, his three sons: Grant and his wife Megan, of Bozeman, MT; Michael and his wife Jaime, of Boise, ID; and Ryan and his wife Christy, of Kenosha, WI; six grandchildren plus one great-grandchild on the way; his three brothers - Jerry (Hannibal, MO), John (Carrollton, TX) and George (Reno, NV); along with numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
