Paul Lalone Read

Paul Lalone Read, 62, formerly of Henderson Harbor and Watertown, New York, passed away in the comfort of his Montana home, surrounded by his wife Dawnmarie and son Victor Michael on Nov. 8, 2023.

Paul Lalone Read is the oldest son of four children of the late Paul B. Read and the late Kay Lalone Read. Paul’s three surviving siblings include a sister, Jennifer; and two brothers, Tim and Jeremy. Also surviving are nieces, a great-niece, nephew and aunts and uncles and cousins on the East Coast.

Paul Lalone was born on Aug. 7, 1961. He graduated from Henderson Central School. He also attended Caton ACT, Caton, New York, and Jefferson Community College in Watertown, New York.

Paul Lalone was a kind and gentle soul. He had a love for music of all kinds, books and action and adventure movies. Paul Lalone had a special interest in the supernatural. His two favorite TV shows were Taps/Ghosthunters and Supernatural.

Paul Lalone had a very strong and unshakeable sense of faith; also, he had a very captive and dazzling smile. His sense of humor was unparalleled, not to mention he had a very inquisitive mind. Paul Lalone’s favorite early family memory was when he played the part of the Cowardly Lion in the school’s musical production of The Wizard of Oz.

Paul Lalone had a very strong sense of duty and service to others, which was evidenced by most of his employment history.

In the early years of his life, he worked as an ER tech at the House of Good Samaritan Hospital. He became an AEMT and worked for Guilfoyle Ambulance Service, as well as volunteering for Henderson Fire Department and Ambulance.

Paul Lalone enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Oakland, California, as a corpsman. After completing his obligation to the Navy, he was honorably discharged.

Paul Lalone returned back to the north country and worked as a dispatcher at the old Jefferson County Jail. He also worked for STAT Communications. Paul Lalone was also a videographer for WWNY TV and WWTI TV; this is when he met his future wife, Dawnmarie.

Paul Lalone and Dawnmarie eloped to Las Vegas and, on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, they were married in the Excalibur Hotel as king and queen. Right after the ceremony, they went to The Chapel of Bells and made it official.

Upon returning back to the north country, Paul Lalone took up employment with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration and was stationed at Miami International Airport in Miami, Florida. While in TSA, Paul Lalone received many awards and recognitions, rising through the ranks to become a supervisor.

Paul Lalone raised Victor Michael since he was 2-1/2 years old and, when Victor Michael turned 18, he officially changed his last name to Read, paying tribute to the man he called his father. Paul Lalone’s heart was filled with love, and he was very proud that little man he raised wanted to take his last name. For the longest time, Paul Lalone always referred to Victor Michael as his son.

The Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration took into consideration his time in the Navy and allowed him to retire early. As Paul Lalone was contemplating his retirement, he moved his family to Montana and transferred to the Billings Logan Airport, and he eventually retired.

Paul Lalone was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

I also believe you only zing once in your life and, my love, you are my zing.

Paul Lalone is having a military burial. He was my best friend, a loving father and husband.
