Our dear Friend, Brother, Husband, and Father Phil Golden left this world to return Home on the morning of Monday, October 24th 2011 at the age of 64.
He was born in San Jose, California on September 9th, 1947 to Philip R. and Ann (Bettencourt) Golden. He graduated from high school at Saint Francis High School and then joined the Air Force where he served for four years in Germany. He returned home to California and enjoyed a 30 year career with the United States Postal Service until he retired in 1997.
Phil was married to his wife Mary (Tyo) Golden on May 17th 2008 in Billings, Montana.
He loved to fish, golf and play pickleball. He volunteered at the YMCA, partook in the Walk and Talk with the Doc service provided by St. Vincent Hospital. Phil was well-known for his giving spirit. He gave of his time freely whenever he could and has helped a great many people who will never forget him. He was an active member of the AA community and will be remembered as a success story with almost 9 years of sobriety.
Phil was preceded in death by his step-mother Doris and father Philip Golden, mother Ann Bettencourt and brother Steven Golden.
Phil is survived by: his wife Mary (Tyo) Golden, Billings; daughter Esther Golden, San Jose; son Robert Golden, San Jose; sister Elizabeth Cuevas (Peter), San Jose; sister Margaret Ann Grant (Steve), Mountain View, California; brother Bill Golden (Peggy), San Jose; sister Maria Golden, XXX; brother Dan Golden (Jan), Los Angeles area; brother David Golden (Kim), Washington; step-brother Steven (Hadie), San Jose.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, step son (and wife) and countless true friends.
The Family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Virginia, Kathy, Dacia, Drs. Graves and Fitzgerald, Dr. Legg, Rita (from Surgery Plus) and the rest of the staff in ICU at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
