Randall “Randy” Christensen was a caring father, grandfather, and brother. He passed away on November 1, 2022, in Billings, MT, at the age of 70.

Randy was born on July 2, 1952, in Watertown, SD, to Kenneth and Doreen Christensen. After graduating from Hettinger High School in 1970, he attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, where he received a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. He went on to be in the radio business for the next 42 years until he retired in 2018. He moved to Montana to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.

His life passions were music and his family. He could usually be found on the passenger side of a vehicle playing the air piano on the dashboard or playing the air guitar in the living room to a tune from any ’60s or ’70s rock ballad. He was somewhat of musical genius; he could listen to a clip of any song from that genre and knew the band, the members, the title, the month and year it was released, and all the words to that song.

His two daughters were his world, whom he affectionately referred to as “his girls.” He is quoted to have said the best two days of his life were the days his daughters were born. He loved being a father and a grandfather. He was eager to share with friends and strangers alike how proud he was of his girls and how much he loved being a grandpa to his five grandkids.

He is survived by his daughters, Bethany (Jon) Fuqua of Billings, MT, and Amie (Andrew) Gaidys of Jericho, VT; grandchildren; Sage, Raina and Finley Fuqua and William and Sullivan Gaidys and a granddaughter on the way; his brothers Timothy (GiGi) Christensen (Rapid City, SD) and nephew Joshua, and Todd (Lisa) Christensen (Rapid City, SD). He is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Doreen Christensen.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave.
