Rickey Dale Hemming, 57, of Billings, passed away on Jan. 1, 2019.
Rick was born on Sept. 25, 1961, in Seattle, to Harold and Esther (Schafer) Hemming. He grew up in Chicago, North Dakota and Billings. Rick enjoyed spending the summers with his younger brother in North Dakota with his grandparents.
He attended Billings schools and graduated from Senior High School in 1980. Soon afterwards, his first son, Rickey Dale Hemming Jr., arrived in August of 1980. Rick worked many years at the Seventeen Club and a local grocery store until the arrival of his second son, Bryon James Hemming. Bryon was born in the fall of 1985.
Rick went on to dedicate most of his time to working with two local construction companies, H.L Ostermiller Construction and Wharton. This is where he met many of his lifelong friends and family. He also enjoyed spending his time at the local racetracks, watching fellow family and friends race. He was always willing to jump and help at the track.
Our cherished memories of Rick include his great sense of humor and his huge heart. He brought much joy and laughter to our family. He always lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed racing, helping others in need, socializing and spending time with his friends and family.
Rick spent the last few years of his life caring for his mother, Esther. He dearly cherished the time he was able to spend with her. They enjoyed playing keno together, taking road trips and shopping.
Rick is survived by his children, Rickey Hemming Jr. (Jocelyn) and Bryon Hemming (Jeanie); siblings Bryon Hemming (Stacey) and Brenda Ostermiller-James (Brad); grandchild Maddex Hemming; nieces and nephews Whittney Ostermiller-Osborne (Tyler), Cassie (Chris) Johnson, Tyler and Zach Hemming.
He is preceded in death by his father Harold, mother Esther, and niece Faith Ostermiller.
