Robert Christian Buus Larsen

Robert Christian Buus Larsen (Bob), age 90, died Thursday, May 21st, 2015 at Highgate Senior Living in Billings following a prolonged illness. Born on February 1, 1925 and raised in Denmark, the son of Valdimar and Sophia Larsen. Bob met his wife Nita after a motorcycle accident, as she was his physical therapist. He decided to move to the US in 1956 to start a new life. Shortly after arriving he sent a single sentence proposal letter to the love of his life. She accepted and they moved to Billings and lived out their lives. Bob worked at American Breeder Services up until retirement. He and Nita built their dream home, where they enjoyed raising many different animals, plus their beloved Great Dane, Olaf Hunger of Yellowstone Valley. His favorite pastime was maintaining his dream home. Bob was also an active Mason for many years. He was a Grand Master for Lodge 113. Bob enjoyed giving back to his community. He drove the cancer van weekly in memory of his son passing from a rare form of blood cancer. He was also an active member of the King of Glory church. Bob passed on the Danish traditions to his children and grandchildren through food and holiday celebrations. This brought much joy and fond memories. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Nita, and his son Lars. He is survived by his children, Thomas (Paula) Larsen, Lis (Frank) Maxwell, and Eric (Yuen) Larsen; grandchildren Chante (Sam) Lind, Amber Larsen, Cassandra (Marc) Chalupa, Terren Larsen, KatWeen Maxwell, Michelle Maxwell, Keirsten (Brady) Gilbert, Shay Larsen (fiance Kevin Buckway), Josie Larsen, and Natalie Larsen; and 6 great-grandchildren Tia Lind, Aliza Lind, Samantha Lind, Sydney Chalupa, Harper Chalupa, and Mack Gilbert. A celebration of Bob’s life will take place at a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The Family would like to thank all the staff at the Highgate Senior Living, especially The Cottage staff for their loving and compassionate care. We love you and miss you Dad and Grandpa! ! !
