On May 18, 2007, Robert W. McPhail passed “away peacefully in the presence of his family. Robert was born in Rawlins, Wyoming to Walter C. and Vernice M. (Cline) McPhail on September 17, 1927. He was the eldest son of 4 boys. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers.

Robert entered the Navy upon graduation from Byron High School and served during World War II. After leaving the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Imogean Meredith on September 8, 1947. They both attended the University of Wyoming where Robert received an Associate’s degree in education. Realizing his greatest love was in sales, he began and ended his career in retail shoe sales, most recently with Dillard’s in Billings. He also worked for Blue Shield! Blue Cross for over 30 years in Wyoming and Montana, retiring from there in 1993.

Robert and Imogean raised four children; Michael McPhail of Denver, CO, Kathi (Mike) Degenhart of Billings, MT, Colleen (Randy) Nipps of Granville, OH, and Shelley (Mark) Hecksel of Rawlins, WY. He leaves ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Robert requested a family “Celebration of Life” to be held at the family cabin in the mountains. He also wished his many friends and associates to remember his sense of humor and dedication to family.

“Be not burdened with time of sorrow,

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life’s been full, I savored much,

Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.”
