Robert Schmidt passed away surrounded by his family on February 22, 2012 at the age of 74.

Bob was born on October 13th 1937 in Isabel, South Dakota to Reine and Martha Schmidt. Bob was the youngest of eight children. When Bob was a young boy, his family moved to Coeur d Alene, Idaho. It was in Coeur d' Alene that Bob first saw the love of his life, Kathy walking to school. Bob attended North Idaho Junior College where he was on the basketball team.

Bob and Kathy were married in Coeur d' Alene on June 6th 1959. Their son Jeff and daughter Lori were born in Coeur d' Alene. Bob's career with Albertson's took the family to several cities in the west, including Missoula Mont., where their son Brad was born. The family settled in Billings in 1965, where Bob and Kathy were very active in their church, St. Pius X. Bob continued to work in the meat industry for Albertsons and Pierce Packing, where he was the Vice President of Sales. He operated a restaurant supply company for a period and then returned to Albertsons until retirement.

Bob enjoyed spending summers in the Nye area camping with his family and friends and fly fishing with his sons on the Stillwater. Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years Kathy, who Bob provided loving care to until his passing. Bob is also survived by his son Jeff Schmidt (Heather) of Red Lodge, Mont., daughter Lori Russell (Tom) of Lolo Mont., and son Brad Schmidt (Denise) of Jacksonville, Florida. Bob is also survived by five loving Grandchildren; Sadie, Markie, Charlie, Hannah and Molly; as well as his brother Dale Schmidt of California.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 27th at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Inrurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, and conclude with a lunch reception in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
