Robin Olson

Robin Olson, born 1943 in Billings, passed away Nov. 18, 2020, at Delta Sutter Hospital in Antioch, California. due to complications with COPD. Robin is survived by her two children, Shannan and Sean (Mary); her two grandchildren, Brody and Riley; and her siblings, Sage and Ione. Robin is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Echo Olson; her siblings, Faith, Roy and Dallas.

Robin grew up in Billings, riding horses and enjoying the country lifestyle during her younger years playing with her siblings and close friends. Robin graduated from Billings High School and worked at the local minor league baseball stadium as an usher. There, she met her first husband Jimmie (baseball player) while working as a baseball game attendant. Robin, feeling the need for adventure, moved to Oakland, California, in her early 20s, where she pursued new opportunities in a new place.

In California, she worked as a bank teller in Oakland and continued her relationship with Jimmie, eventually marrying and having their two children. The family moved to Pleasanton, California, where she was a devoted mother to her two children. She adored watching her children play many competitive sports throughout the years and attended nearly every sporting event that her children ever played. She got inspired to play slow pitch softball herself; she loved being on a team, enjoyed the competition and camaraderie. Robin made lifelong friends in her community living in Pleasanton and worked for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as an administrative assistant.

Robin and Jimmie divorced in 1978 and she eventually started a new adventure in Florida after her children graduated high school. In Florida, she worked as contract administrator for Defense Research (General Dynamics) and moved with the company to Alabama, where she finished her career in 2008. While living in Alabama, she again made great friends, continued to be a huge sports fan and became engrossed in Alabama football and rolled with the Tide as a fiery and loyal fan the rest of her years.

Robin missed being close to her family and friends on the West Coast and made the decision to relocate back to California to be closer to her grandchildren and reconnect with those lifelong friends. Robin loved being close to her grandchildren, watching them grow up and attending every possible activity they participated in from sports, dance recitals, concerts and theatrical shows. She frequently played board and card games with her grandchildren, teaching them how to play poker and the value of competition. Robin traveled annually to Montana to visit her family and childhood friends during the summer.

In Brentwood, Robin became involved at the Senior Center and made many new friends playing BINGO and Bunco whenever she could. This satisfied her never-ending social and competitive nature. Robin was known to be a sweet woman, who was quick with a friendly smile and never passed up an opportunity to talk as she loved making new friends.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 11, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave.
