Rocky Feld

Rochelle Libby Feld "Rocky" passed on June 28, 2017, in Houston, Texas. She was born in Minneapolis on Feb. 2, 1952, to Joseph and Ilse Rozman, both Holocaust survivors. It has been said that from day one she was a handful for her parents and big sister Bonnie. She was a wonderful and loving daughter who loved helping her mom cook goulash, which was one of her specialties. She was known to her childhood friends as loving and faithful to the end. This was one characteristic she was probably best known for her entire life. Rocky had a most unique way of discussing a difficult problem and making it very simple. You always knew where she stood on a subject and, even if you disagreed, you knew she still loved and supported you always.

During her 20s, Rochelle, as she was known, moved to Las Vegas to seek her fame and fortune. She got a job as a blackjack dealer at Benny Binion's Horseshoe Club. She later was one of the first women Pit Bosses in Las Vegas at a time when that was a job for men only. We were told that no one fooled "The Rock" at her tables and she was a great employee of the Horseshoe Club. In Las Vegas, she had many friends who loved her as much as she loved them. During her time in Las Vegas, she met her husband Bob, and their first daughter, Nichole, was born. Soon after, they moved to Montana and their son, Travis, was born.

All who knew her will never forget her unique swagger and sense of style. She loved to dress and accessorize in a way that let everyone know she was special. She loved her nickname, the "Bling Queen," and loved her jewelry so much she later started a business so she could pass her style on to her many good customers. At her jewelry shows from Montana to South Dakota, she loved to visit with her many good customers, who also became her friends as well.

Rocky was also an accomplished stained glass artist with a keen eye for colors. She was such a perfectionist, she would spend hours cutting one piece of glass to make sure it was just right. There are many homes in Billings that were fortunate to have some of her stained glass artwork.

Rocky's best work was her family. Rocky was a wonderful wife and mother and, later, grandmother. She loved to cook and was quite good at it. Eating was very important to her and, for as tiny as she was, she could eat more than anyone she knew.

One of Rocky's lifelong passions was helping others, and she donated her time and wisdom to anyone who was having a tough time in life. She was never judgmental but would let you know right away where she stood. She was a longtime volunteer to the Billing Youth Court. Rocky, like her mother Ilse, also had a soft spot for the Billings Women's and Children Shelter. During the Christmas season, Rocky and her children, Nichole and Travis, would dress up as elves and bring candy and good cheer to the St. John's Lutheran Home in west Billings. She loved to entertain and spread her love for life to all.

Rochelle is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob," of 35 years; her loving daughter, Nichole Yale, her husband Andrew and her very special first granddaughter Rachel; her loving son Travis and his wife Mandy; sister Bonnie and her husband Michael Noyman and their children Gal and Tamar. She also leaves behind her cousins Farley and Allen and their beautiful families.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Rozman; mother Ilse Kaufmann Rozman; and her uncle Kurt Kaufmann, also a Holocaust survivor.

A graveside service for family and friends will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, at Beth Aaron Cemetery, corner of Broadwater and 17th Street West. A celebration of life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Hilands Golf Club, 714 Poly Drive, 406-245-3049.
