It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Roland Jerome Lyngby, a beloved husband, father and grandfather/Opa. "Jerry," as he liked to be called, is survived by his wife of 61 years, Tibby; and daughters Angela Kay (Udo Lyngby-Cox), Erica Marie (Anthony Jiron); grandchildren, Jordyn, Tyler and Ashley Jiron, Marileigh and Senja Lyngby-Cox.
He was born June 29, 1936, in Hannaford, ND, the only child of Ingvald and Margaret (Davidson) Lyngby. He attended school in Hannaford.
His career began owning and operating three restaurants in Hannaford and Cooperstown, ND. Later, he became the manager at Burke's Farm Equipment business in Cooperstown, ND. Leaving the farm equipment business in April of 1971, Jerry joined Hall Equipment Co. in Sioux Falls, SD, a Minneapolis-based construction equipment distributor, as a Sales Representative. He then was promoted to Branch Manager for Hall Equipment Co. in Sioux Falls. After several years, he was appointed to Sales Manager for J.D. Evans Equipment Co. in Sioux Falls. This was followed by a move in 1991 to Billings, with Tri-State Truck and Equipment, finishing his long career at Western Equipment, Billings. After retirement, his passion and respect for the relationships that he built over his long career inspired him to continue what he loved. He began marketing and selling the Walk ‘n' Roll Packer/Roller "Built with PRIDE in the USA" which is manufactured in Havre. This business has grown to include sales and service all over the United States, as well as internationally in New Zealand and Australia. He was widely regarded and recognized for his support throughout the equipment industry.
An avid golf enthusiast, Jerry enjoyed many days on the golf course. He was looking forward to playing in an upcoming golf tournament with his grandson Tyler and his friends. In addition to golf, Jerry was passionate about cars and owned more than can be remembered. In fact, one of his first words as a baby was CAR. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his passing has truly left a void in all our lives.
His family has organized a public viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary and Crematory, 1001 Alderson Ave., Billings. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at American Lutheran Church, 5 Lewis Ave., Billings. Following the memorial service, a reception will be held in the fellowship hall. Jerry will be interred in Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Hannaford, ND.
