Ronald W. Bowles

Ronald W. Bowles, 82, of Fishtail, died April 8, 2020.

Ron was born on Feb. 25, 1938, in Livingston. He was the first of four children born to Barton and Harriet Bowles. Ron was raised on the family dairy farm outside Livingston. After graduating from Park County High School in 1956, Ron joined the Montana National Guard. Ron married his high school sweetheart, Arlene "Tyke" Merritt, on June 2, 1957. They started their lives together by purchasing a farm adjacent to the Bowles family dairy and worked the family farm partnership until 1974. During their time on the farm, two children completed the family: Daniel Ray, born in 1960, and Judy Ann, born in 1963.

Ron and Tyke left Park County and farm life and moved to Stillwater County. Ron worked various jobs. He had a long career at Beartooth Ranch and later at Stillwater Mine, retiring in 2000.

Ron enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially fishing and hunting. His most favorite pastime was gathering and splitting firewood.

Ron is preceded in death by his children, Dan and Judy; his parents; and baby sister Judy Ann.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tyke; his brothers, Jerry (Jane) and Jim (Julie); granddaughter, Jessica and great-granddaughter, Hannah. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Due to the pandemic, no services are scheduled.
