Rosemary Elizabeth Barta

Rosemary Elizabeth Barta, age 88, of Billings, Montana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

Rosemary was born on July 24, 1936, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Joseph and Eva Keller. She was raised on a farm outside of Dickinson and graduated from Dickinson High School.

She was introduced to William (Bill) by a friend and on June 13, 1955, Rosemary and Bill, the love of her life, were married. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Billings, Montana where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Rosemary worked from home doing such jobs as selling Avon door to door.  She attended Billings Business School getting a degree in bookkeeping.  She managed Ryco Federal Credit Union from her basement office.  Later she worked outside the home as Vice President of Billings Federal Credit Union until retirement.  After retirement, Rosemary and Bill enjoyed traveling and exploring new places together.

Rosemary’s passions included quilting, sewing, baking, bowling, camping, fishing, and playing cards. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family, who always remained her number one priority.

She was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Co-Cathedral in Billings, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life.  She was also a long-time member of the Billings Moose Lodge where she enjoyed many meals, dances, friends and Bingo.

Rosemary is survived by her loving husband, William Barta; her children, Gale (Jeff) Kreitzberg, Ginnette Nelson, and Gerald Barta; eight grandchildren, Bryan (Megan) Kreitzberg, Scott (Jessica) Kreitzberg, Lisa (Cliff) Oppegaard, Jim (Tarin) Barta, Josh (Brooke) Barta, Jamie (Scott) Noble, Kristine (Eric) Martens, and Michelle (Kyle) Finneman; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Barta; her parents, Joseph and Eva Keller; and her siblings, Ralph Keller and Monica Tysver.

A public viewing will be held on January 14th at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary at  5 P.M, followed by a Vigil/Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm January 14, 2025. Funeral Mass will be held at noon on January 15, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Co-Cathedral in Billings, Montana.  A vigil/rosary will be held at 6:00 pm January 14, 2025 at Michelotti- Sawyers Mortuary.

Rosemary’s warmth, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
