Roy Edwin Brothwell

Roy Edwin Brothwell, 58, passed away on Nov. 9, 2016.

Born on July 22, 1958, in Barstow, Calif., to Roy Eugene and Marjorie Brothwell, he grew up in Billings and graduated from Billings West High School and studied at Eastern Montana College. He later moved to Denver, where he met the love of his life, Carina. They married on July 28, 1984, and enjoyed 32 wonderful years together. They settled in Denver and Roy pursued a career in the computer industry. He worked for Quark Software until the couple decided to leave Denver and return to Billings. After completing his degree in computer science at Rocky Mountain College, he found his dream job at the Billings Gazette. A self-proclaimed Jack-of-all-trades in regards to computers, he loved building computers and solving problems. He also enjoyed building RC aircraft and digital photography, as well as music.

Roy's greatest joy in life was his family. Roy and Carina welcomed their daughter Abby into their lives on June 18, 2004, and she was the light of his life. He enjoyed being a stay-at-home dad in her first few months of life. Roy and Carina also became foster parents and provided a loving home to children. Roy especially loved taking care of the babies. He liked getting up for the middle-of-the-night feedings just so he could have some cuddle time and sing to the babies.

Roy is survived by his wife, Carina; daughter, Abby; son, Bubba; mother, Marjorie; sisters Marjean (Steve) Parliament and Tonya (Ken) Bergdoll.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave.
