Ruth Louise Olsen died peacefully in her sleep at Bella Terra nursing home, where she had been living for several years. Ruth was born on Oct. 8, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Anna Fischer and Charles Olsen. Ruth spent her life caring for Catholic priests in the Billings area. She lived and worked at the St. Patrick's rectory from 1963 to 1968. She spent a short time in Bridger, South Dakota, from 1969 to 1970. When she returned to Billings in 1970, she worked and lived at the Little Flower rectory until 1981. Ruth retired from the St. Patrick's rectory, where she had worked and lived from 1981 to 1994.
Ruth is remembered for her excellent cooking, her sweet smile and her gentle nature. Ruth devoted her life to God, and lived and worked in the service of others. Her faith and devotion to the priests in her care was her purpose in life, and she never married.
Ruth is preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Thorson, and her brother, Charles Olsen. She is survived by her nephews, Steven, Donald, Paul and Robert Thorson.
Ruth was dearly loved by her nephews, those that she worked with, the staff at Bella Terra and by the Roy Degenhart family of which she was a beloved member of the heart. She will be greatly missed.
Services for Ruth will be later in the spring when her loved ones return from Arizona.
