Ruth Egeland

Ruth Harvat Egeland passed away on March 23, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings. Ruth was born on April 29, 1932, in Livingston, to John and Eleveleth (Alpha) Weigum Harvat. She was raised in Livingston, graduated from Park County High School in 1951 and MSU in 1955, where she was an active member of the Chi Omega Sorority. On June 26, 1955, Ruth married the man of her dreams, Dick Egeland, who preceded her in death in 2014. Ruth and Dick were blessed two sons, John and Richard.

Ruth and Dick operated the Pin Cushion, a decorating and fabric business, together in Billings for 50 years. They loved spending time at their cabin on the East Rosebud that they built with their sons.

Ruth is survived by her sons, John and Richard and his wife Cecelia; her mother, Frieda Smith; grandson Tom(Melanie) Reiner; great-grandchildren Isaac, Madison, Cate, Jordon, Rylee and Kody; sister-in-law Marcella Stachwick; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her parents; brother-in-law Bill Egeland; sisters Rosemary and Loretta; and granddaughter Jennifer Soule.

The family is planning a celebration of her life this summer to be held on the East Rosebud.
