Scott Lyle Bilges, 50, of Billings, formerly of Illinois, passed away at Billings Clinic on Sept. 18, 2016. Scott was born in Minneapolis on Dec. 23, 1965, to Terrance and Paulette Bilges.
The family moved to Baker, where he graduated from high school in 1985. His passions for sports included basketball and football. Scott enlisted in the United States Army in 1985, going through basic training in Kentucky. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 1, 1987.
Following his military service, Scott traveled the U.S. for various jobs. He met Edith Harrington in Billings in 2006. They later married and continued to travel. They had two children, Cynthia and Brylee. Scott and Edith later divorced.
Scott worked as a shaft constriction builder in underground mines in Virginia, Louisiana and Illinois. He moved back to Billings in July 2016, where he was employed as a warehouse worker at A and H Turf.
Scott is survived by his father, Terrance Bilges of Bozeman; his brothers, Mark (Trisha) Bilges of Brooklyn Center, Minn., Ryan (Stephanie) Bilges of Bozeman and Josh Bilges, also of Bozeman; sister Ruby Michelle Bilges of Billings; children Cynthia (5) and Brylee (4) and their mother Edith Harrington of Enfield, Ill.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Paulette Saari; and grandparents on both sides.
Cremation has taken place. Scott's cremated remains will be interred in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, Minn., at a later date.
