Sharon Mark Signori

Sharon Mark Signori passed away peacefully at her home in Billings on July 23, 2015 after a courageous 2 year battle with lung cancer. Her husband Victor and her much loved cat Gina were by her side and she was exactly where she wanted to be when God's grace enabled her to give up the fight. Sharon was born on December 30, 1941 to Edgar and Keziah (Kay) Mark in Rugby, North Dakota. She graduated from Williston High School in 1959 and in 1961, married Gary Brengle in Beach, North Dakota. They had two daughters, Barb and Marcy, and Sharon lived in Beach until the early 1980's when she and Gary were divorced and she relocated to Billings, MT. When her girls were young, she was a traditional stay-at-home Mom, active in the local Homemaker Club, a volunteer Girl Scout Troop leader, and the kind of Mom who baked, sewed Barbie Doll clothes, and welcomed the friends of her children into her home like they were her own. Over the years, she became an accomplished cook and took great pride in making entertaining look effortless. Once the girls were in school, she became a sales rep for Sara Coventry jewelry and spent several years selling jewelry at home parties throughout Golden Valley and Billings Counties, something she absolutely loved to do. In the early 70's, she went to work as a legal secretary for Orrin Lovell, Golden Valley State's Attorney, who later became her stepfather after Sharon played matchmaker and he married her mother Kay. From 1977 to 1982, she was employed at the Golden Valley ASC office. In 1985, Sharon married Victor Signori in Billings, MT and they celebrated 30 years of marriage on March 30, 2015. During that time, Sharon worked for 10 years as an administrator for the University of Montana MBA program where she was beloved by the program students – as evidenced by the many letters she received over the years from students thanking her for helping them make it through. Her quick wit and exceptional organizational skills made her an invaluable asset to students who were working full time and completing an MBA. She and Victor loved to travel and they visited many places around the country over the years. Their favorite destination was Maui and they cherished the memories of their many visits there. Sharon touched many people throughout her life with her big heart, humor, and selflessness. She was an avid reader for all of her life and loved to engage in a spirited discussion over something that truly interested her. She was a perfectionist in many areas of her life and could be delightfully feisty when something didn't sit right with her. Sharon was a passionate gardener and worked tirelessly each summer on her garden and flower beds. She was an avid animal lover and dedicated a great deal of time to keeping all of the wildlife that entered her yard happy and well fed. She adored her home and her pets and she and Victor were always most content when they were there together. As she navigated the challenges of her illness, the incredible outreach of individuals from St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church led Sharon to convert to Catholicism in the fall of 2014. The care and kindness of Ed Zabrocki and Kathy Lombardozzi were invaluable in Sharon's journey of faith and will be cherished forever by her family. Sharon is survived by her husband Victor, daughters, Barbara (Jack) Hilbert and Marcy (Wendel) Torres, two grandchildren, Katie and Allison, step-son Mark and his children Anthony and Matt, sisters Ellen Hiatt, Kathy Walters and Teri Mark, special family friends Frank, Dick and Greg, and numerous extended family members of whom she was very fond. Arrangements have been entrusted to Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Avenue, Billings, MT. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, July 28th, 10am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2055 Woody Dr, Billings. Memorials are suggested to Help for Homeless Pets, 2910 Hannon Road, Billings, MT 59101 The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers who helped to care for Sharon during her illness, especially Dr. Troy Fiddler at Frontier Cancer Center who was such a champion of her willingness to fight with everything she had, and Amy Silvernagel who made so many things possible.
