Theresa Mcglinchey Berlinger

Theresa "Terry" McGlinchey Berlinger was born to James and Hannah McGlinchey in Glencolmcille, County Donegal, Ireland, on April 25, 1933. She came from a family of eight girls and four boys.

Theresa came to the United States on June 18, 1953, and worked in New York until coming to Montana in August 1954. While in Montana, she met Raymond Berlinger of Big Sandy and married on November 27, 1954.

The couple lived on their farm southeast of Big Sandy for 40 years, during which time eight children were born to them. Terry, as she was known, loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed doing her puzzles and knitting. Terry also enjoyed listening to music from Ireland and watching Irish dance performances.

In October 1996, Ray and Terry retired from farming and moved to Billings to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. Terry was a member of St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Big Sandy and of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Billings. She was also a member of the Altar Society.

Theresa passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Aspen Meadows Retirement Center.

Theresa is survived by her children, Kenneth Berlinger of Lewistown, Wayne Berlinger of Missoula, Shawn (Mimi) Berlinger of Spokane, Washington, Jeanette Berlinger, Linda (Gene) Atkinson, Maureen Kaul, Joan Berlinger and Traci Berlinger, all of Billings; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Preceding Theresa in death are her husband Raymond; her parents in Ireland; six sisters and four brothers.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Jim and Loretta Doll, Rose Poppler, Tiana Milam and Lexie Rangitsch for providing such excellent care, kindness, love and support to our mother and family.

A viewing will begin at noon on Thursday, August 24, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave., with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 25, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 717 18th St. West.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
