Tyler Kent Stovall

Tyler Kent Stovall, 55 of Billings passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on July 11, 2018. Tyler was born on June 18, 1963 in Billings, MT, to Jay and Juanita Stovall. He was raised on the family ranches on Pryor Creek and Scott Creek, and was proud to be a 5th generation Montanan. He was a jovial man who grew up as a toddler always saying, "me too!" as he followed his big brother Manny around to then being known as "Short Bull", Uncle Buck, Big Barley, Black, Tiny, and Uncle Tyler. Tyler married Courtney Cunkelman in 1992 and to this union, he had his only child, Hannah. They later divorced and in 2015 he married Lisa Blodgett. This union ended in 2017, but they remained friends. Tyler was a cowboy. He grew up around some of the best and carried on with cowboy traditions in his daily manner. Caring for animals and going for walks along Pryor Creek was Tyler's rest time. It was here he felt closest to God. Alongside his dad, he was invited to be a drover in the 1989 Montana Centennial Cattle Drive. He enjoyed driving truck during harvest, driving out to look at cattle and riding his 4-wheeler. Tyler worked several jobs in his life but the most rewarding was his job at St John's Lutheran Home. He was passionate about caring for people, always on their time and at their speed. If any resident of St. John's, family member, friend or special acquaintance was in need or at the hospital, they would be getting a call or visit from Tyler. "Well ok, I was just checking on ya... we love ya...we are praying for ya". This was a statement heard by many blessed to have Tyler worrying about them. He loved taking time to stop and pray with you or for you. Tyler was a strong Christian and loved and walked with Jesus every day. In 1990, at a men's bible retreat, he accepted Christ as his Savior. He truly loved people and had a keen memory for unique information for people's birthdays, anniversaries, deaths or special events. Tyler always had time for you. He loved to have a "Big Visit" with ANYONE at any time! Tyler had a loving impact on people. The overwhelming outpour of sadness that one of God's Angels has gone to heaven early in life has been a testament to how much people loved Tyler. If you were ever around him, you knew he was a special person surrounded by a strong faith. If you spent any time with Tyler you found out how much he truly loved and cared for his daughter Hannah. She grew up being his little "Bobcat" to his little princess. He is survived by his daughter Hannah Stovall of Kittanning, PA: mother; Juanita Stovall; older brother Jay Jr. "Manny" (Lee Ann) Stovall and their kids Alicia Stovall and Levi Stovall and youngest brother Turk (Jenny) Stovall and their kids Gabe Stovall, Reagan Stovall, and Kristian Stovall, all of Billings. He was preceded in death by his father Jay Stovall. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, July 15, at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Monday.
