Verda Lucille Sandbak was born on February 11, 1920, in Broadview, Montana. She was the fourth of five children (a brother Raymond, and three sisters, Luverne, Lois and Hertha) born to Hilma and Otto Sandbak and lived on the family farm east of Broadview. Pat graduated from Broadview High School in 1937. She always called herself the “black sheep” of her family, because being Swedish, she was the only daughter to have dark hair!

After graduating from high school, Pat moved to Billings where she worked and attended classes at the Billings Business College In 1941 she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a secretary at Lockheed Aircraft Company. In 1943 Pat moved back to Billings and was the administrative assistant to Art Langman, then owner of the Billings Livestock Commission Company. She worked at the Billings Livestock for the next five years providing secretarial services and clerking the cattle and horse sales. Pat was very fond of Art Langman and in later years related her remembrances of him and his kindness to her with great affection.

While working at Billings Livestock, she met Jerry Langman and they were married in 1945. In 1948, Jerry and Pat welcomed the birth of their only son, Scott. Pat was a wonderful mother, always putting her son first. In her later years she delighted in sharing stories about Scott as a young boy. The family lived on Ash Street in Billings for many years before moving into a home they built in 1966. Pat and Jerry made an annual tradition of vacationing in southern California and attending the “Tournament of Roses” festivities and opening days of Santa Anita’s winter race meet. They often traveled with Jerry’s parents, Art and Daisy

Pat remained very close to her sisters throughout her life and not a day went by that she didn’t speak to them on the telephone or see them. One of the big thrills of her life occurred when she and her sisters traveled to Stockholm, Sweden and visited the home of their mother Hilma.

Pat was very fastidious and took great pride in keeping a nice home. She enjoyed sewing, loved clothes, especially shoes, and was always dressed for the occasion, even through her later years. As a young woman, Pat loved to socialize and enjoyed many friends. She was a long time member of the Hilands Country Club and frequently golfed with her sister, Hertha.

In 1969, Pat was widowed when her husband Jerry Langman passed away unexpectedly. She continued to reside at the family home and in 1971, she married Horace C. Wyman. They were married for 17 years and had a wonderful marriage together. They traveled extensively during their years together, including two trips to Portugal and Spain, three cruises, including the Panama Canal and Norway, and they spent several winters in Chapala, Mexico. (They drove to Chapala and back both years!). Pat’s second husband Horace passed peacefully in 1989.

In 1993 Pat sold her family home and purchased a patio home on Billings’ west end where she lived for the next thirteen years. In 2006 she moved to Mission Ridge retirement community where she lived until her passing. Pat is survived by a sister Lois Feldman, a son, Scott Langman (Deanna), granddaughter Nicole Langman, grandson Matt Langman (Rebecca) and great grandson Alexander Langman.

Memorial services will be held 11am Thursday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary.
