"This farmer's season had ended. His last field had been planted."
Wally Lambrecht, 75 of Billings, passed away at his home on March 21, 2006. He was born May 24, 1930 in Billings, MT, the son of Casper and Rose (Gerber) Lambrecht. He grew up on the family farm with five brothers and one sister, and attended Hawthorne School and Billings Senior High. At the age of 20, he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Nellis AFB where he became the crew chief of an F86 Saber Jet. He served from January 1951 to May 1954.
On September 12, 1953, Wally married Alice Kern in Billings, MT. They farmed in Huntley until moving to Billings in 1966. Wally worked at the Post Office until his retirement in 1975.
Wally was a Charter Member of St. Bernard's Parish, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, and a favorite customer at the Heights VFW. He leaves behind many friends and family members.
Spending time with family, traveling, woodworking, and working in his garden brought great joy to Wally. His garden produce, especially his much anticipated sweet corn, will be missed by many people. His skill of designing and building special wood projects will be forever cherished, as well as his own unique way of telling a good joke or story.
Wally is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Alice; and his children, Connie (Jerry) Johnson of Billings and their children, Leah Rowton (fiancé Brett Wolever) of Seattle, Kara Rowton of Seattle, and Alex Rowton of Colorado Springs; Raymond (Jackie) Lambrecht and their son, Paxton, all of Shepherd; Sharon Frank and her son, Jacob of Pompano Beach, FL; Laura (Greg) Harris and their children, Katie (CJ) Schultz and Annie Harris (fiancé Dustin Smith), all of Billings; Janet (Mark) Korpela and their children Keegan and Claire, all of Sheridan, WY; Linda Wigglesworth and John Wigglesworth and their children, Alison and Matthew, all of Sheridan, WY; and one great granddaughter, Emily Schultz of Billings. He is also survived by two brothers, Clem (Esther) Lambrecht of Bozeman and Kenny (Lois) Lambrecht of Tulsa, OK; and many, many nieces, nephews and special friends.
