After receiving a very bleak prognosis 18 months ago, Walt fought a courageous battle and enjoyed life until the day he passed. His strength, humor, and love for all will be missed by those who knew him.

Walt was born in Lewistown, MT on January 8th, 1946 to Carroll and Marval (Kelley) Manuel. Attending school in Winnett, MT, Walt graduated high school in 1964. After school Walt joined the Army Reserves and served until 1971. He graduated from Billings Business School.

Walt married his beloved wife Judie King on June 3rd, 1972 in Billings. After working for King Construction in Billings, Walt and Judie made the decision to start a family back in Winnett. They were blessed with two sons-Brian Lee Manuel and Gregory Wayne Manuel. In 1977, Walt and Judie purchased their ranch where they raised their two boys. Walt's greatest joys in life were his family, camping, hunting, fishing, and ranching. Walt will always be known for his love of teaching kids to fish and hunt.

Walt served on the Winnett School Board, the Petroleum County Weed Board, and Williams Coulee Grazing District Board. At the time of Walt's passing, he was also a member of Christ Our King Lutheran Church in Lewistown.

Walt's devotion to past and current neighbors, community members, friends, and family were the greatest gift he gave this world. He treated everyone with kindness and respect, and set a great example for those looking up to him. Towards the end of his life, the devotion he showed throughout his life was apparent. Those same past and present neighbors, community members, friends, and family carried Walter's spirits through the tough 18 month struggle. His family shall always be indebted for the kindness everyone showed. Walter taught many that being wealthy at the end is rarely financial in nature.

Walt is survived by his loving wife Judie of 39 years; son's Greg Manuel of Dallas, TX, Brian (Lindsay) Manuel of Miles City and grandson's Grady, Jhett and Hazen Manuel; mother, Marval Manuel of Lewistown; father, Carroll (Merelee) Manuel of Winnett; Brothers: Victor (Bonnie) Manuel of Winnett, Tom (Marcella) Manuel of Red Lodge and Sister Betty (Tony) Kuhry of Grass Range. Walt is also survived by his Father -in-Law, Wayne King and special friend Lee Limpp of Billings; Sister-in -Law, Louise King of Billings; and Brother-in-Law, Mitch (Holly) King of Billings. Walt is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Walt was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Roy and Mae Manuel; Amelia Tognetti and Oscar Kelley; Mother-in-Law, Joan King; and Brother-in-Law and best friend, Tim King of Billings.

Walt was always taking his family and friends fishing during his free time. As a reward for days on end of hard work, this quality time is the time many will miss most with Walt. To increase the enjoyment of children and their parents around the community, Walter requested that memorials be made to the Crooked Creek Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited in his name for improvements to Petrolia Lake.
