Wanita Mae Benson, age 74, of Billings, Montana, passed away on November 7, 2023. She was born on April 1, 1949, in Scobey, Montana, to the late Frances and James Morris Paulson.

Wanita is survived by her loving husband, Smokey Benson; and children Patrick (Kyrie) Fouhy, Andrea (Jake) Spero, Kelly (Danna) Benson, Syd Benson, Emily (Rob) Jones, Gene (Sara) Benson and Andy Benson. She was also a cherished grandmother to Aiden, Triston, Anna Belle, Callum, Jett, Skye, Kiera, Ashlynn, Josie, Addison, Kale, Tenley and Ava. Wanita is also survived by her siblings, Anita (Melvin) Andersen, Dennis Paulson and Don (Lee Ann) Paulson. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Fouhy, and brother, Delano Paulson.

Wanita attended Scobey Elementary and Scobey High School before furthering her education at Billings Business College. She then embarked on a fulfilling career as a secretary at Peerless School and Scobey Schools until her retirement in 2008.

Wanita had a strong faith and was an active member of St. Philip Bonitus Parish and St. Pius X Church. She found solace and community through her religious practices.

In her free time, Wanita enjoyed pursuing her artistic talents through painting and crafts. She also loved playing cards with friends and family, and cherished moments spent with her grandchildren and loved ones.

Memorial mass will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at St. Philip Bonitus Parish in Scobey. Interment will be in Scobey Cemetery.
