Joyce Foreman

Joyce was born at home in Molt, Montana to Fred and Tiny Downs on May 31, 1928. She passed away on July 4th at Morning Star Senior Living.

She was raised on the family farm and attended Molt School through the 8th grade.  She then stayed in Billings with her cousins and went to the newly opened Billings Senior High School, where she graduated in 1946.

Joyce married Denver B. Foreman in 1950 in Billings at the First Methodist Church.  Joyce and Denver lived in Molt and welcomed three sons, Randy, Ken and Curtis.  They moved the family to Billings in 1960.  In the mid 60’s Joyce and Denver owned and operated Denver’s Central Enco at 16th and Central Ave.

In 1968, Joyce went to work at the Billings Post Office and was one of the first women to be hired as a clerk in Billings.  She held various positions during her career.  She was always a big supporter of women and was proud to be the first Women’s Program Coordinator.  She also enjoyed her last position as an Associate Office Coordinator, which required her to drive many miles around the state, overseeing the operations of the small and medium sized post offices.  She retired in 1992 after 25 years of service.

After retirement, Joyce was active with the National Active and Retired Federal Employees and the Museum of Women’s History.  She also was involved in planning the many class reunions that took place for her high school class of ’46.

Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Curtis, her parents, her brother Robert and a sister and brother who died as children.  She is survived by her sons, Randy and his sons; Drew (Randi Jo), LeRoy & Danny, Ken and his wife Colleen and their sons; Kelly and Riley and daughter in-law Diane and their children; Houston (Kate) and Rebekah. She is also survived by four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Morning Star Senior Living and Rocky Mountain Hospice for the loving care and comfort they provided her with in her final days.

Memorials may be made to the Museum of Women’s History at 2822 3rd Ave N # B3, Billings, Mt 59101.

Funeral services will be 2pm Wednesday at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
